Please email us at digdeep.us@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Individuals who sign up to be a pen pal will be asked to fill out a Google Form. On this form, we ask if you'd like to be contacted by inmates via email or letters.

Yes! When you fill out our Google Form, we will do our best to match you with an inmate that matches your requests.

No, you do not! There are alternative addresses available for you to use if you do not wish to use your own. When you fill out our Google Form, we will do our best to make arrangements that you feel comfortable with.

We recommend starting with one pen pal to familiarize yourself with the process and get a feel for how much time reading and responding to the communications takes. However, you can certainly have more than one pen pal if you are comfortable with it!

Writing to someone incarcerated and getting to know them while building a friendship involves the same principles one would use in getting to know someone on the outside. Letter templates, detailed guidance and eleven "basic rules" for the program can be found in the "Pen Pal Program Guidelines" below!
